Level and Class Descriptions

Our dancers are taught to have respect for themselves, respect for those around them, and a strong appreciation for the art of dance. Dancers are leveled into classes by age, and all classes are developed to be age-appropriate regarding music, costumes, and content. Dancers must meet the minimum age requirement for the class by August 22, 2026.

Class Descriptions
Foundations: Ballet 
Mondays 5:15 -6:00 pm
Saturdays 10:15-11:00 am

Dancers enjoy Ballet, creative movement, and song and dance in a fun-filled, accepting atmosphere! We work on basic ballet skills, counting, gross motor skills, and tumbling all while having fun and using our imaginations. Each week we will learn new things about dance, music, our bodies, and the world around us! We use props to make the movement come alive. Dance class reinforces social skills like waiting our turn, using our manners and attending class independently to prepare for a school environment. Ballet dancers perform in costume for the first time, where they are always the hit of the show! 

*Ages: 3-4 years old

Foundations: Tot Hop
Mondays 6:00 -6:45 pm 
Saturdays 9:30-10:15 am

This class is for dancers who have lots of energy and love to move and groove to the beat! Pairs perfectly with Pre-Ballet or take this class on its own. Tot Hop will work on basic hip hop skills, counting, gross motor skills, and introductory breakdance moves all while having fun and using our imaginations. Each week we will learn new things about dance, music, our bodies, and the world around us! Dance class reinforces social skills like waiting our turn, using our manners and attending class independently to prepare for a school environment.

Dancers will perform one dance in the recital. 

*Ages: 3-5 years old

Foundations: Ballet & Tap
Thursdays 5:15-6:15 pm
Saturdays 9:00 -10:00 am

Ballet and Tap are offered in a combined class that focuses on coordination, technique, and fun activities. In Ballet, terminology and technique is integrated with imagination to make it a fun-filled learning process. Rhythm, patterns and counting are the focus in Tap while working on using our feet to make sound. We also learn how to do partner dances, work on tumbling, and play games that use both our bodies and our brains. Dance class reinforces social skills like waiting our turn, using our manners and attending class independently to prepare for a school environment.

Dancers perform one dance in the recital.

*Ages: 5-6 years old

Foundations & Level I: Intro to Acro
Saturdays 11:00-11:30 am

Intro to Acro introduces young dancers to the fundamentals of acrobatic dance in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. Dancers will build strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and body awareness while learning beginner acro skills such as rolls, bridges, log rolls, donkey kicks, and other foundational movements. Classes also incorporate stretching, conditioning, obstacle courses, and creative movement activities to develop confidence and encourage a love of learning. Students will progress at their own pace while practicing proper technique and celebrating their accomplishments.

*Ages: 4-7 years old

*Must be enrolled in Ballet or Hip Hop.

Foundations & Level I: Hip Hop

Hip Hop focuses on isolating various body parts at once, emphasizing the beat of the song, across the floor progressions, combinations, grooves, and an introduction to breakdancing stalls. All classes are developed to be age-appropriate regarding music, costumes, and content. Does not require enrollment in Core Class.  Dancers perform one dance in the recital.

Level I: Ballet & Tap
Saturdays 11:30 -12:45 pm

Are you looking for a high-energy and fun class? Come show us your moves! Hip Hop focuses on isolating various body parts at once, emphasizing the beat of the song, across the floor progressions, combinations, grooves, and an introduction to breakdancing stalls. All classes are developed to be age-appropriate regarding music, costumes, and content.

Does not require enrollment in Core Class.  Dancers perform one dance in the recital.

Level II:  Intro to Contemporary
Tuesdays 6:30-7:15 pm

Intro to Contemporary introduces dancers to the expressive and artistic style of contemporary dance while building a strong technical foundation. Dancers will explore movement that combines elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance while developing flexibility, balance, coordination, strength, and musicality. Through improvisation, creative movement, and across-the-floor progressions, students will learn to express emotion and tell stories through dance in a fun and encouraging environment. Dancers will gain confidence as they develop proper technique and performance quality. Dancers perform one dance in the recital.

*Ages: 7-9 years old

*Must be enrolled in Ballet and Jazz

Level II: Ballet
Thursdays 5:30-6:15 pm 

Ballet focuses on building a strong technical foundation while developing grace, strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Dancers will learn proper ballet terminology, posture, alignment, barre work, center exercises, and across-the-floor progressions in a positive and encouraging environment. Classes emphasize musicality, discipline, confidence, and artistry while helping dancers develop correct technique and a lifelong appreciation for dance.  Dancers perform one dance in the recital.

*Ages: 7-9 years old

Level II: Tap
Thursdays 6:15-7:00 pm 

Tap focuses on developing rhythm, timing, coordination, and musicality while teaching dancers how to create sounds and patterns with their feet. Students will learn fundamental tap terminology, proper technique, footwork, and combinations through engaging exercises, across-the-floor progressions, and fun choreography. Classes encourage confidence, creativity, and performance skills while helping dancers build a strong technical foundation in a positive and supportive environment. Dancers will progress at their own pace as they develop precision, control, and a love for tap dance. Dancers perform one dance in the recital.

*Ages: 7-9 years old

Level II: Jazz
Thursdays 7:00-7:45 pm 

Jazz combines technique, energy, and creativity to help dancers develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. Students will learn jazz terminology, proper body alignment, turns, leaps, kicks, and across-the-floor progressions while improving musicality and performance quality. Classes encourage dancers to express themselves through dynamic movement and engaging choreography in a positive and supportive environment. As dancers build a strong technical foundation, they will develop confidence, stage presence, and a love for performing. Dancers perform one dance in the recital.

*Ages: 7-9 years old

Level II:  Debut Company
Saturdays 10:00- 1:00 pm 

Company is designed for the dancer who wants to perform more, expand their dance experiences, and create lasting memories with their dance friends! Company is an additional class that gives dancers the opportunity to perform in the community and exposes them to new experiences and opportunities in dance. Dancers will learn multiple performance pieces and will have Company-specific performances. Most of our classes will be held during the standard Company rehearsal time. However, there may be some weeks that have extended, shortened, or cancelled rehearsals. We will send out a rehearsal calendar the month before (or earlier!) so everyone knows the upcoming rehearsal schedule.

*Ages 7-9 years old

*Must be enrolled in Ballet, Tap and Jazz. 

*Must have 2 years of training at LDA.

Level II & Level III: Acro
Saturdays 9:00-9:45 am

Acro combines the artistry of dance with the strength and athleticism of acrobatics. Dancers will build flexibility, balance, coordination, strength, and body control while learning skills such as bridges, cartwheels, walkovers, handstands, limbers, aerial progressions, and tumbling techniques appropriate for their level. Classes emphasize proper technique, safe skill progression, conditioning, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment. Students will advance at their own pace as they develop both acrobatic skills and performance quality.

*Ages: 7-11 years old

*Must be enrolled in Ballet and Jazz.

Level III: Jazz
Tuesdays 5:45-6:45 pm 

Jazz combines technique, energy, and creativity to help dancers develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. Students will learn jazz terminology, proper body alignment, turns, leaps, kicks, and across-the-floor progressions while improving musicality and performance quality. The focus will be on building existing technique, expressive lyrical movement, choreographic elements, traditional modern technique, improvisation and exuding emotions through movement. Dancers must also be enrolled in Core Class. Dancers perform one dance in recital.

*Ages: 9-11 years old

Contemporary dance is constantly evolving, and this class will explore it's many components. Dancers must also be enrolled in Core Class. Dancers perform one dance in recital.

Level III-Level V: Pre-Pointe
Wednesdays 5:00-5:45 pm

Pre-Pointe is a non-performance class that educates and prepares dancers for dancing en pointe. All dancers will start wearing their ballet slippers. You will be notified when your dancer is approved to purchase pointe shoes. This class has a strong emphasis on strengthening the ankle and foot at the barre, as well as utilizing proper ballet technique and alignment. Once approved for pointe shoes, dancers will spend time learning about the pointe shoes, how to sew, preparing their pointe shoes, and proper foot care. Dancers must also be enrolled in Core Class. 

*Ages:10 years old and older

Level IV: Ballet

Tuesdays 5:45-6:45 pm

Wednesdays 7:00-7:45 pm

This class was designed for students looking to further polish their tap skills. More complex patterns and combinations will be presented along with more advanced steps and terminology.

Level IV: Prima Company
Saturdays 10:00-1:00 pm

Company is designed for the dancer who wants to perform more, expand their dance experiences, and create lasting memories with their dance friends! Company is an additional class that gives dancers the opportunity to perform in the community and exposes them to new experiences and opportunities in dance. Dancers will learn multiple performance pieces and will have Company-specific performances. Most of our classes will be held during the standard Company rehearsal time. Level IV & Level V:  Pointe & Advanced Ballet
Thursdays 7:00-8:15pm 

For dancers who enjoy the art of ballet and are interested in advancing their ballet technique whether en pointe or in their ballet slippers. Dancers work at the barre, in center, and across the floor. Dancers must have completed Pre-Pointe to take this class en pointe. Ballet is the foundation of all dance training. It teaches correct body alignment, classical technique, musicality, and terminology. Requires enrollment in Core Class.

*Ages: 11 years old and older

*Must be enrolled in Ballet.

Level IV & Level V: Musical Theatre Jazz

Thursdays 8:15-9:00pm

Musical Theatre combines the excitement of Broadway with dance, acting, and storytelling to help performers build confidence both on and off the stage. Dancers will explore jazz-based movement, character development, facial expressions, stage presence, and performance techniques while learning choreography inspired by popular musicals and theatrical productions. Classes encourage creativity, teamwork, and self-expression in a fun, supportive, and energetic environment. ​

*Ages: 11 and older

Level V: Ballet
